Moin moin* folks,

after numerous nights of hard work of understanding the Koken CMS, adapting the backend and photo preparation and postproduction, I finally reboot my website. From now on it is available under the domain www.nkphotoart.com. Again, thank you Lars for your support with the work on the backend and the work on the infrastructure. You saved me many hours of work and possibly a lot of frustration. I also like to thank you for raising my awareness to the brilliant CMS Koken.

A short history of my website: I launched my first website on the 6th of May 2013. This website was designed statically with iWeb and served more the purpose of a digital visiting card than enabling a nice stroll through my portfolio. Since I wanted to be more interactive I transitioned the website to the CMS WordPress. This happened on the 25th of April 2014, almost after a year of utilizing the static site.
With that transition, I hoped to ease the maintenance of the website and reduce the effort to publish new content. In addition I expected to present my portfolio in a more appealing way. Unfortunately it did not work out for me like that, ass WordPress and I never really warmed up with each other. Though the website stayed long in a ready, yet immature state, with respect to my expectations.
Then, I became father twice and my thesis... well it is almost a third child with respect to time consumption. Though it took a little while until I scanned for a new CMS, namely until a few weeks ago. Now, utilizing Koken I am really satisfied. I will extensively discuss the reasons, why I switched from WordPress to Koken and where I personally see advantages and disadvantages of either CMS in a future post.
The old domain (www.nkphotoart.de), which I neglected to promote and rarely utilized is redirected to the new website from now on.

Long story short; in the future you will find all relevant and hopefully interesting information about my recent projects, like successful contest participations or exhibitions here. In addition, I am planning to blog on a regular basis. I will not announce further activities for now, although I have some more ideas and plans.

To maximize the number of possible readers, I will try to write every post, and any other content at least in English and German. Maybe some pages will additionally be available in Swedish and French. The only exceptions with regard to that are the website menus, the photo captions and the album captions, which exclusively will be available in English.

Before concluding this post, I would like to give a huge thank you to all my models and all supporters of my photographic projects. You are all the best and without you my work would not be possible.

I hope the new websites design appeals to you and you have fun browsing my portfolio.

Reboot

In diesem Sinne munter holln !

Moin moin* folks,

I am Nils and I live in the vicinity of the lovely town Oldenburg (old) in Lower Saxony in Germany. Im am east-friesian, even though my family name does not indicate that. I would call myself a child of the coast and a real northerner (Norwegians, please don’t laugh :D). When I am not out capturing photos, I am a physicist crafting my PhD. My camera has been a vital part of me for the last 15 years.

... me with 35mm Flektogon ...

Photography is the artistic relief to my Job, which is not less creative, but requires a different kind of creativity. Personally I think photography is a very exciting way of communication. On one hand it allows me to connect and relate to the photographed persons, places, landscapes, animals, situations and all other things in front of my camera. On the other hand it enables me to pass my perspective to those looking at the captured photos. This is specially interesting as you simply perceive the world differently through the viewfinder of a camera, than with your all day perspective. I love the almost brutal honesty of the medium photography and its documentary characteristics. Maybe I feel that way due to my scientific roots.

Personally, a fun shoot is as important to me, as the quality of the captured pictures. You’ll be the judge wether my work is art or not. For a time in the past my work almost exclusively focused on the area of nude photography with female models. But ever since many clothed people, landscapes, concerts, northern lights and other weather phenomena which involve charged particles jumped up in front of my lenses. Though I extended my focus to other areas, but still nude photography remains the core of my work.

In addition, I am an enthusiastic family father and a huge fan of Scandinavia, which includes the small stores for sweets in particular. I love to travel, to climb and to sail and if after all of that, there is still time, I also like to do a tango dance.

My new website presents among other things a selection of my Portfolio. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please let my know, I am looking forward to receiving them. Have fun browsing the photos and the other content of the website.

See you and, munter holln**.

... me with 35mm Flektogon ...

In diesem Sinne, munter holln.
